It's been a long winter, the mood is grey. Now it's time for colour and a fresh breeze! Off to Holland, the land of tulips and hyacinths, daffodils and narcissi. In the Keukenhof, hundreds of growers conjure up spring, millions of bulbs are planted in Den Helder every year, but the tulips also shine in small markets in the towns and villages. On this trip you will also experience the maritime landscape of the Ijselmeer. You are welcome to join in with the sailing, but this is not necessary, nor is experience. Wind, waves and currents determine the itinerary, which can therefore change at short notice. Start the bright season on the schooner Mare fran Fryslân with this ‘Sail & bike - colourful tulip tour.

Day 1 Arrival in Amsterdam
Embarkation between 1 and 2 pm, then boat trip to Zaandam. Opportunity to cycle and stroll through the city center in the evening.

Day 2 Roundtrip Alkmaar, 47 km/29 mi
First, you cycle to the unique Zaanse Schans open-air museum, then you experience the colorful splendor of huge tulip fields. Overnight stay in the romantic cheese town of Alkmaar.

Day 3 Alkmaar - Den Helder, 30-53 km/19-33 mi
North of Alkmaar lies one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Holland. Enjoy the sea air and the view before cycling towards today's stage destination Den Helder. Did you know that the largest flower bulb field in the world lies between the IJsselmeer and the North Sea?

Day 4 Boat trip, round trip on Texel, 43-48 km/27-30 mi
Boat trip to Texel during breakfast. Picturesque villages and blooming flower fields line the route on your cycle tour to the ‘Ecomare’ seal sanctuary.

Day 5 Sailing tour
Sailing tour to Enkhuizen. You are welcome to help with the sailing or simply enjoy the trip. In the afternoon, the ship reaches Enkhuizen, a harbour town with a centuries-old maritime tradition. No dinner on board, but a large selection of cosy restaurants.

Day 6 Boat trip, Hoorn-Volendam, approx. 28 km/17 mi
Boat trip to Hoorn during breakfast. Afternoon cycle tour via the cheese town of Edam to the picturesque fishing village of Volendam.

Day 7 Coach trip, visit to Keukenhof
Morning coach trip through the oldest tulip fields in Holland. The Keukenhof flower park offers millions of spring flowers, fresh colors after the dreary gray of winter. In the afternoon we head to exciting Amsterdam

Day 8 Disembarkation, departure or extension
The tour "Sail & bike - colourful tulip tour" concludes after breakfast. Disembarkation until 9.30 am.

  • If you choose to wear a helmet, we recommend using your own due to the variety of head sizes and shapes and for hygienic reasons.

Arrival to the "Sail & bike - colourful tulip tour":

  • Arrival by car:
    There are various options of parking your car for the duration of the trip. In any case, please drive to the quay first and bring your luggage and (if applicable) personal bike aboard. Then
    - Drive to the car park Oosterdok near Amsterdam Centraal station. Costs are approx. 185 € / week.
    - Make use of our parking service from Centralparking. We will arrange for your car to be picked up from the quay, stored safely and returned to the ship. Your vehicle is insured against all types of damage or theft and will be parked in a protected underground facility. Advance booking necessary. Cost approx. 155 €/5 days. If you have bike racks mounted on the car, the cost increases.

  • Arrival by train:
    Amsterdam Centraal station, get the 48 bus to the quay, duration approx. 10 minutes, cost approx 3 €.
  • Arrival by plane:
    Shiphol Airport, take the train to Amsterdam Centraal station (approx. 20 minutes, approx. 5 €), followed by the 48 bus to the quay (approx. 10 minutes / 3 €)
    Alternatively, get a taxi from the airport to the quay, cost: approx. 45 € per vehicle.

Personal bikes:
In principle, you can bring your own bike along. However, please note that your bike will be loaded on and off the boat twice a day along with several others and therefore slight cosmetic damage to individual bikes cannot be ruled out, which is why we do not take responsibility or liability for such damage. We recommend reserving one the excellent rental bikes we offer.

Perfectly looked after:
During your tour, we are available between 8 am and 8 pm, 7 days a week. We are happy to help with any kind of problems you might be having. You will find this emergency number in your travel documents.
